BJP 's reslove on Ekta Sankalp Rally Stand as a 'rock' to forces inimical to J&K's accession with India | Art 370 obstruction to development boom' | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Dec 24:The saffron brigade today made its message clear: it not only demands but would ensure J&K's complete merger and integration with rest of India, a political assertion which is in contrast to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's posturing in the state Assembly. The historical Ekta Sankalp Rally addressed by the strong national delegation of the party undertook a solemn pledge to stand as a 'rock' against what they said all forces inimical to the accession of J&K with India. "I assure the people of the state that a central committee of the party would be organized at Delhi which would tour the entire state into its deep interiors and listen to the grievances with possible solutions thereof," said National BJP president Nitin Gadkari . This was the focus of almost all the stalwarts in their speeches who committed to stand 'shoulder to shoulder' in all pains and plights of Jammuites He guaranteed a 'holistic fight' for the people of Jammu and Kashmir in Parliament in the Centre and also promised to stride a mile further by taking up a legal fight too to secure the rights of people of the state. Voicing a unanimous concern for total integration of the state with India, the BJP leaders took centre stage in front of a massive gathering that had reached the venue to listen to their views and resounding assertion that BJP stands committed to return of One Nation Theory. Reciprocating to the thundering applause the leaders maintained that no attempt envisaged from any corner to dilute J&K 's 'total accession and merger' would be reverted and anyone daring to do so would be destined to meet the waterloo. Further blaming it on the wrong Nehruvian ideology having damaged the state's apparatus, Gadkari put the onus of the state's socio-economic status receding into hopeless situation of depravity due to Art 370 posing an obstruction to free flow of developmental boom that India is witnessing in its contemporary growth. He denied religious or any other problem posing threat to state's poverty, but laid stress on the two major factors of corporate and agricultural adversity hindering the development. Quoting the central investment figure of Rs One lac, ninety thousand crores pumped into the state till date, Gadkari called for perceptive accountability in the wake of negligible development seen on the ground. "J&K is pursuing dual politics, one of the anti-nationals and the other of the nationalist people here," said BJP national president adding that in the process the basic rights of the people of Jammu and Ladakh are eroded in the process. Also taking a dig at Pakistan's game plan in the country to keep it on boil, Gadkari questioned UPA's silence over keeping Parliament attack culprit Afzal Guru at bay from the guillotine. "Pakistan fought thrice and lost. This gave it an alternative to pursue cross border terrorism and Afzal Guru still evading the guillotine is a live example of terrorists enjoying Congress's patronage," said Gadkari. If the party president, Nitin Gadkari announced for fighting a legal battle for people of Jammu and Kashmir in case their issues are not resolved in Parliament, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj warned the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh that the BJP would not allow the Parliament to function if any attempt was made to implement or give any weightage to the proposals like Autonomy, Self rule or 'biased' recommendations of interlocutors on Kashmir. "J&K is not a political subject matter for BJP. It is a sentimental and emotional issue that is deeply imbibed into our hearts," said Sushma Swaraj, BJP leader of opposition in Lok Sabha. She warned," We have come here to announce it to UPA and Congress to remain aware of any mischief with state in context of considering self-rule, autonomy or joint administration. Any attempt in this regard would lead to a national agitation," she warned. She also mocked it's a 'drill' conducted by Home Minister P Chidambaram's' delegation to Kashmir visiting separatists saying," I and Arun Jaitly outrightly rejected Centre's plea to visit separatists in the Valley". Sushma Swaraj also sent a message across to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that no pre-1953 status would be acceptable to the BJP as is being envisaged by the interlocutors 'under the garb of conducting fact finding exercise in the state'. She also talked about the discrimination meted out to two regions of Jammu and Ladkah and reminded central government to eye the pains and sufferings of the Kargil Muslims, Jammu people and Ladakh Bodhis also. Senior BJP leader Lal Krishan Advani who held the dais in the end presented a strong account of Jammu's relation with BJP while offering his homage to the soil of the region. Advani said, "Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, the founder of erstwhile Bharatiya Jan Sangh, had warned that separatist movement would intensify in the state, if the Centre does not change its Kashmir policy." He saluted the state where Mukherjee "sacrificed" his life. He recalled the journey of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, 6033 kilometers away from Kolkatta to Jammu to break the permit barrier and in the process sacrificing his life in the holy region to uphold his caus "It is his sacrifice which ensured unfurling of triclour in J&K.......", Advani said adding that BJP will not let this sacrifice go wasted instead fight to end state's 'separatist' tendencies. On alleged involvement of DMK leader A Raja in the 2G Spectrum Scam and government not taking action against him earlier, Advani said corruption should not be allowed despite coalition compulsions. "Although coalition governments have their own compulsions, there should be no compromise on integrity, sovereignty or allowing of corrupt practices," he asserted. Advani held Prem Nath Dogra as one among the four stalwarts of the BJP that include Deen Dayal Upadhaya and Atal Behari Vajpayee besides Shyama Prasad Mukherjee who had come to Jammu to break the alienation of the state with rest of India as had been done through Nehru-Abdullah accord. While presenting the comparative strengths and weakness of the Congress and BJP in the recently held plenary session of Congress at Delhi, Advani said that since BJP in its office bearers meet had 28 issues to discuss while Congress had just one of BJP popularity growing fast among the masses. He assured the people of Jammu that all issues regarding the good governance are to be set in right motion to streamline the functioning of the political apparatus and BJP upholds that integrity in true spirits. Earlier, leader for opposition in Rajya Sabha, Arun Jailtely while starting ro address the public rally reiterated his earlier statement given to media a day before that included a blame on thesuccessive Congress regimes being the 'major force' since independence as instrumental in turning the state of affairs sour. He also dished out three main factors leading to the scourge of separatism flourishing in Jammu and Kashmir. "Nehru's idea of authorizing people to decide for administrative sanctions gave rise to the demand of plebiscite followed by weakening of state's relation with rest of India vis-à-vis its political and constitutional bonds," said Jaitely adding that the third major factor that led to indifference was non allowance of settlement of West Pakistan refugees in the state. "These opportunities provided for an initiation for a declaration of a different status to J&K with Art 370 becoming major impediment to all economic developments besides a psychological barrier also," said Jaitley. He added the current expressions making rounds in the Valley regarding demand for self-rule, autonomy, joint administration and finally 'azadi' as the aftermaths of the weak central policies giving strong base to such voices. "Violence is the strategy of separatists and nothing should be done to legitimize separatism". He however added that the day is fast approaching when history would stand testimony to the bitter truth of a great revolutionary change on the Indian diaspora. |
