| Nominations for best teacher award invited | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER JAMMU | NOV 6 Nominations from College teachers have been invited for conferring the prestigious Master Karam Chand Best Teacher Award for the year 2006-07 by the Karam Vidya Educational Trust that has been honouring the outstanding college lecturers for the last two years. According to a release of the trust, the Principals of Govt. colleges of all the three regions Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, have been asked to recommend the names of at least two teachers from their respective colleges who are visionary, dedicated, hard working and sincere to the cause of education. Out of these two nominated teachers, one from each College would be selected by the Select Committee for conferring the Award. The Award will be conferred in a ceremony to be held in ending January 2007, the sources further said giving details. Giving details the trust spokesman said that the Master Karam Chand Best Teacher Award has been instituted in the loving memory of Master Karam Chand Ji, the first President Awardee Teacher of the State who has also been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award in the field of Education by the Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir. The objective of this award is to accord recognition to the services of college teachers who have hitherto remained unrecognized but are rendering dedicated, silent service to the cause of Education. The spokesman further said that many awards have been instituted by the Govt. under the stewardship of the then Education Minister Harsh Dev Singh for school teachers, but this is the only Award for college teachers till date. The Principals have been requested to make nominations by the 15th of this month, the spokesman added. Elaborating, the spokesman said that in the first year only Jammu city college teachers were honoured, but last year, college teachers from Kashmir and Ladakh were also conferred with this prestigious award.
