| Inter-school chess tourney gets underway | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 25: Two-day inter-school chess tournament in different age groups of boys and girls, organised by All J&K Chess Association, started today at Hotel Nek, here.
The opening day witnessed first two rounds of the competition in boys’ under-11, under-14 and under-19 year age categories. The final and fifth round of this knock-out (after round two) event shall be played tomorrow.
“Competition in girls section shall also take place tomorrow, followed by the prize distribution function in the afternoon at the same venue,” president of the Association Atul Kumar informed.
In all, 48 participants drawn from 10 different schools of the city are taking part in this inter-school meet.
Earlier, at the end of round two, Virinder Chib, Danish Pathania, Pranav Sharma and Rajat Bhardwaj were leading in different age groups.
