| Vajpayee was more conversant with J&K issues: Chaman | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Dec 25: Atal Behari Vajpayee had the will and capacity to sort out the complex problems in Jammu and Kashmir. Though a lot was done to contain the cross border terror and Pakistan was forced to publically commit that no soil under their control would be allowed to be used for terrorist activities but it was unfortunate that Atal could not get enough time to achieve the desired ends.
This was stated by the former Union Minister and the leader of the BJP legislative party Chaman Lal Gupta while interacting with the party activists on the eve of 87th birthday of Vajpayee.
He said that hardly anybody else than Vajpayee was more conversant with the issues linked with this state as the BJP leader in various capacities had dealt it, both at home and also the international fora and made it clear one to all that Jammu and Kashmir is legally and constitutionally an integral part of India.
Gupta termed Vajpayee’s performance both as Prime Minister and the leader of opposition as unmatched which would be remembered for a long time to come.
Addressing party activists from Doda-Kishtwar areas, Gupta asked them to launch a struggle by taking up some particular issues as the present coalition is immune to the sufferings of the people because of the ruling dispensation being incapable coupled with the infections of communalism.
The activists led by Dileep Singh Parihar, Janki Nath Thakur, Swami Raj and others listed the serious problems facing the people of these hilly areas.
They expressed their concern about the neglect of the Village Defence Committee (VDCs) and the plight of the SPOs, in addition to paucity of rations, growing unemployment and so many other problems.
Gupta said that the people should opt for an approach of struggles in democratic and peaceful manner so as to force the concern high ups to perform and attend to their obligations. This has been the main approach of the BJP throughout and Vajpayee’s life is an example and guide for all the democracy loving people.
