CJM denies bail to accused in dowry death case | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec: 25:- Chief Judicial Magistrate Jammu MS Parihar dismissed the bail application of Vijay Kumar husband of deceased Monika and Shankutla Devi mother-in-law of deceased who were arrested by the police u/s 498-A cruelty and 306 RPC abetment to suicide case. CJM Jammu after hearing the parties and after perusing the facts on record rejected the bail application. It is worth mentioning here that on December 1, 2010, information was received at P/P Nehru Market Jammu that a lady Monika age 25 years w/o Vijay Kumar had died due to hanging and dead body was lying in the bed room of the house. The FIR disclosed a case u/s 498-A/306 RPC was registered. According to the police case the allegations against the accused are that accused were causing harassment to the deceased and coercing her to bring more dowry and due to the harassment caused by the applicants, the deceased allegedly committed suicide. The court while dismissing the bail application of son and mother observed that in the opinion of the Court in view of the various consideration that the nature and seriousness of the offences allegedly committed by the applicants and the larger interest of the society, the applicants are not entitled to bail and dismissed the bail application.
