Party delegation meets STF team | PDP demands special package of Kandi areas | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Dec 25: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded special economic package for the development of Kandi and other backward regions of Jammu province. Interacting with the visiting team of the Special Task Force of the Union Home Minister, PDP delegation pointed towards the backwardness in the Kandi belt of Jammu province. Delegation informed the Task Force team that residents of the Kandi belt of Jammu province have been facing the problem road connectivity, drinking water, health facilities and education. PDP general secretary Thakur Balbir Singh, who led the delegation especially mentioned towards the Bani assembly segment which is glaring example of the backwardness and under development. He said that even after 63 years of Independence, there is no road connectivity in that segment. Delegation emphasized on the need of connecting inaccessible areas through road network in the backward areas. The delegation further demanded that a special economic package should be announced for backward areas of Jammu province. Pointing towards huge tourism potential in Jammu province, delegation said that there is need to properly exploit this potential. It was also demanded that adequate tourism infrastructure should be created in tourist destinations to attract the tourists in these areas. The delegation suggested that some concerted efforts should be taken to create job avenues for the local unemployed youth of this region. Delegation also demanded that a comprehensive policy should also be announced for the residents of border areas. Other members of the delegation included Trilok Singh Bajwa, Sardar Rafiq Hussain Khan, MLA, Choudhary Zulfikar, Sayed Asgar Ali, Ved Mahajan, Falail Singh, Nadeem Khan and others
