Physiotherapists take out candle light march
12/25/2010 9:22:40 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Dec 27: With state government still not coming up with any solution to the demands of the unemployed physiotherapists, Jammu & Kashmir Physiotherapist Association (JKPA) today took out a candle light march.
Large number of physio doctors and local people took part in the march to press government to create vacancies for the unemployed. The candle light march started from Press club of Jammu and culminated at Indira Chowk. The march was lead by president JKPA Dr. Vimal Singh Manhas and other members of the association.
Meanwhile, Socialist Democratic Party (SDP) president Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi also extended her support to the agitators and alleged that government is playing with the career of thousands of youth.
General secretary, Press Bank Complex Federation, Ashwani Pardhan said that its very unfortunate that at a time when the government is talking of eradicating the unemployment from the state, highly qualified youth have to take path of agitation.
Addressing the protesters, Dr. Amit Vajapai, national general secretary – Qualified Physiotherapist Association said that the government has to do justice with these youth as they have invested thousands of rupees to get degrees.
JKPA leaders also expressed strong resentment over the ‘irresponsible’ attitude of the State Government. Dr. Vimal Singh said that government is making fun of them and if it continues with same approach, they would be forced to take path of violence.
Despite pumping crores of rupees in the name of improving the health infrastructure in the state, government has shot down the idea of accommodating the physiotherapists, who have completed their course from various private and government institutions.
It is pertinent to mention here that unemployed physiotherapists have launched agitation since past over a month now, demanding that government should provide them employment.
