Engineers XI enters Atman Premier League final | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, December 26: Powered by brilliant unbeaten knocks from first class cricketers, Dhruv Mahajan (75) and Hardeep Singh (53), Engineers XI today registered a fine 29 runs win over Bar President’s XI at GGM Science College ground to reach the final of Atman Premier League T20 Cricket Cup. Both these current Ranji cricketers of the state added valuable 125 runs together for the third wicket unbeaten partnership. Now Engineers’ XI shall take on DGP XI in the final. Earlier, batting first after Bar President won the toss and opted to field, Engineers XI suffered two early losses in the shape of opener, Hilal Rather (seven) and number three batsman, Irshad (three). However, experienced Dhruv Mahajan and wicket-keeper batsman, Hardeep Singh consolidated the innings and both batted superbly to remain unbeaten on 75 and 53 runs in their respective accounts. They helped the team set a target of 155 runs for the loss of two wickets. From Bar President’s XI, Sanjay Sharma and AP Singh secured one wicket each. In reply, Bar President’s XI lost wickets at regular interval and could manage only 125 runs for the loss of seven wickets playing full 20 overs. Guru Pratap Singh (33), Sahil Singh Bhalwal (19) and Vimarsh Kaw (17) played some good knocks but could not lead their side to victory mark. Hilal bowled tight spell of four overs and plotted dismissal of Vimarsh Kaw from Engineer’s XI. Then Dhruv Mahajan picked two important wickets, followed by loss of another wicket in the hands of Ramdayal. This tournament is being organised by police officers and advocates of Jammu under the overall supervision of former Ranji trophy player, Rajesh Gill.
