Curfew continues in north Kashmir village

Srinagar, Dec 26 : Curfew continued in Anderkote, Sumbal village of Bandipora district for the seventh day today even as separatist, mainstream politicians and religious leaders appealed for peace.

Curfew was imposed in the village following a clash between two communities over a Muharram procession on December 20. The authorities, however, relaxed curfew fdor two hours yesterday. No untoward incident was reported during relaxation.

Malik Muhammad Yasin, who heads Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) assisted by leaders from both the sects arranged a meeting between the communities on December 22.

Besides Malik, Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwaiz Umer Farooq have also appealed for harmony. The speaker, Legislative Assembly and MLA Sonawari Mohammad Akbar Lone has is trying his best to restore peace in the village.
