Failure of authorities to affect detachments of teachers hits education of students
12/26/2010 11:22:04 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 26: Notwithstanding the claims of the State Government regarding the cancellations of all the attachments of teachers and Plus 2 lecturers in the state, the authorities in the Education Department shirk in laying their hands on the members of teaching community enjoying the patronage of the politicians and their relatives.
There are a large number educational institutions in the Jammu region where the teachers are much more less than the staff strength of the schools there by affecting the education of the students to a great extent.
In Government Girls Middle School Grota in Raipur Damana Constituency which has 170 students on its roll and a staff strength of eight teachers is presently facing the shortage of the staff generating a lot of resentment among the people of the area.
According to reports out of eight teachers in the school, three have been attached in the areas having proximity to Jammu city by the authorities at the cost of the students and in violation of all standing rules.
Though the issue was taken up with the authorities number of times by the people of the area but to no avail. The MLA Raipur Damana, Bharat Bushan alias Bodhi also visited the School today was surprised to find that one teacher who was posted on October 29, 2008 in the School has been attached on March 23 last year in Middle School Bhalwal.
Likewise another teacher who was posted in the School on September 1, 2010 has been attached on September 4 to Middle School Raipur just serving in the Grota School for three days.
A Physical Education teacher who joined the School on May 24 this year was fortunate enough after he was attached by the authorities to Higher Secondary School Sarwal on July first leaving the students in lurch.
The MLA, while taking strong exception to the arbitrary working of the authorities in the Education Department has termed all the claims made by the Government that it has cancelled the attachments of all teachers as hollow.
When such a worst position is in the schools in Jammu district what can be the condition of the educational institutions in far flung areas of the region, said Ramesh Sharma a social activist.
He said the condition is much more worst in the schools in Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Reasi, Rajouri, Poonch, Udhampur, Samba and Kathua districts.
The sources said in Khawz Zone of Rajouri district there is total shortage of teachers in 15 primary and Middle schools. The issue was taken up with the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, G A Khawaja by the local people in the public Darbar last month. They also complained that some schools are virtually closed while in others the proxy teachers have been appointed by the teachers on a paltry sum.
Same is the condition in some schools in farflung areas of Koteranka Zone, sources said adding the issue was also brought in the notice of the authorities by the people.
