| Azad to prpose PM: Budget in December | | | Jammu, November 7 Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Tuesady left for Delhi to attend crucial meeting with Prime Minister Dr ManMohan Singh in New Delhi on Wednesday morning. Sources in the civil secretariat disclosed that during his visit to New Delhi Chief Minister is expected to discuss the issue of holding a budget session of the state assembly in the month of December instead of February 2007. The suggestion was first put forward by the Finance Minister Tariq Hamid Qarra soon after he took charge of Finance Ministry. Among other issues, Chief Minister is expected to discuss the agenda of the working group headed by Justice Sageer Ahmed who is expected to convene first meeting of the working group on centre state relations shortly. Sources in the civil secretariat said that govt is planning to hold budget session in December 2006 to give boost to development projects and ensure that money allocated for various projects donot lapse. Political parties in Jammu and Kashmir are already discussing the issue of budget session in December and weighing its pros and cons. A majority view among political parties is that it is better that each year budget session is held in December as the same would facilitate easy flow of money sanctioned for various schemes in time. |
