| 6 chain snatchers held with gold chains, other items | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 27: Police have apprehended six youth and recovered from them gold chains and other items allegedly snatched by them from women in different localities here.
They were identified as Rajiv Kumar Sharma alias Abral, son of Sham Lal Sharma of Subash Nagar, Sohan Singh Jamwal alias Sonu alias Badal, son of Prahlad Singh Jamwal of Toph Sherkhania, Arvind Singh Manhas, son of Puran Singh Manhas of Shiv Nagar, Joginder Kumar alias Shotu, son of Vikramjit of Subash Nagar, Vishal Singh, son of
Surjit Kotwal of Shiv Nagar and Taryson, son of Thomson of Krishna Colony, Rehari. Arvind originally hails from Doda.
Police sources said the chain snatching gang operators hired unemployed youth for the purpose. They gave them money for the job and also provided them motorcycles to flee the spot after snatching gold chains from women, the sources added.
Seven gold chains, four mobile phones, three motorcycles and five purses were recovered from them.
Sources said they mainly operated in Sarwal, Janipur, Bakshi Nagar and Rehari areas.
Their interrogation was on and police hoped to make more recoveries from them.
The recovered items would be handed over to their owners after completing legal formalities, the sources added.
The stolen case was worked out by SHO Janipur , Jaipal Sharma under the supervision of SDPO West S.K.Chowhan and SP City North S.J.S Johar .
