Ist high-level Monitoring Committee on IMR held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 27: Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Sham Lal Sharma has underlined the need for taking all possible measures to reduce the Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) in the State. He has called for creating necessary facilities at the First Referral Units (FRUs) so as to provide better services to the mother and child for achieving the desired goals in this direction. Chairing first meeting of the High-Level Monitoring Committee for reducing the Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) here today, the Minister stressed for making coordinated efforts with the active involvement of ground level health workers and strengthening the monitoring mechanism to bring the IMR to the level of 30 per 1000, which is a goal of the National Rural Health Mission. He asked for establishing Baby Care Corner into 24x7 Primary Health Centres, Stabilization Units and Sick New Care units (SNCUs) at the ground level health institutions, which are mainly responsible for handing the new born babies, he maintained.
