JPPF expresses solidarity with striking transporters

Jammu Dec 27Jammu province People’s Forum has expressed solidarity and extended full support to the transporters agitating against exorbitant passenger tax imposed on all commercial vehicles, against which they are forced to resort to token strike by all the passenger and commercial vehicles today.
A meeting of the forum was held here today under the chairmanship of its chairman Thakur Pavitter Singh, Ex-Session Judge who has appealed to the Govt. to accede to the demands of the transporters to withdraw heavy passenger tax, before January1, 2011, the deadline set by the transporters to give call for indefinite strike of all commercial vehicles and chaka jam.
The same will cause great hardship to people at large and the onus for the same will be on the Govt. It observed that the transporters in the state are already under great stress due to ever rising prices of petrol and diesel as well as increase in the prices of spare parts of their vehicles.
