| HuM militant, former SPO killed in Doda | | | Jammu, Nov 7
A Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HuM) militant and a former Special Police Officer (SPO) were killed in militancy-related incidents in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said today.
Acting on a tip-off, police launched a search operation in Budhi area of Gandoh tehsil in Doda district early today and killed HuM militant Shabir Ahmed alias Abu Abrar in an encounter.
Police also seized an AK assault rifle, three magazines and a wireless set from the slain militant.
He was an SPO who had deserted police and joined the militants in April this year, they said.
In a seperate incident, unidentified gunmen shot dead former SPO Muzaffar Hussain in Bharat area of Doda district, police said.
The militants later escaped from the spot. |
