| NSS winter camp on health organised | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Dec 28: The winter camp organised by the NSS unit of Government College for Women Parade in college premises included various noteworthy activities.
Theme opted for the 10 day camp was “Health- A comprehensive and Integrated Programme.”
Commenced on December 22 with an inaugural function, the camp included daily technical sessions, morning assembly with NSS volunteers performing prayers, physical exercises and report reading.
Shrum Daan was among chief routine activity of the camp.
This act included eradication of unwanted roots, shrubs or weeds etc. and planting of trees. Stress was laid on realizing the significance of preserving the environment, seeking major threats greenery deterioration.
Volunteers were of the opinion that plantation alone could curb several health threats in contemporary era.
Moreover the volunteers were also taught the basic self-defense techniques in a three-day Taekwando workshop. In continuation to this camp the organizing officers along with the volunteers also visited the Chotti Teresa Sadan, a home for orphans and mentally challenged people. Also, Ravinder Bali also delivered by Mamta and on spirituality lecture on art of living.
