Belmount Club, Green Valley excel in Divisional Rugby | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Dec 28: Belmount Club in boys section and Green Valley in girls category excelled in the two-day Ist Divisional (Kashmir) level Rugby 7’s Championship which was organised by Jammu and Kashmir Rugby Association at Bakshi Stadium, here today. Belmount Club clinched both junior and senior boys’ titles beating Lion Heart and City Thunder in the finals respectively. The sub-junior boys’ trophy went to Bisons Rugby Club after they beat City Central School in the final. Meanwhile, in girls’ events, Green Valley won both sub-junior and junior finals. In sub-junior final, Green Valley beat Lanton Hall, while Kashmir Haward suffered defeat in junior group to remain runners-up. The senior girls’ trophy was clinched by Presentation Convent outplaying Green Valley Club in the final today. In the finals and prize distribution function, Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Sarmad Hafiz was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies. Manager Bakshi Stadium, Nuzhat Ara was also present. The organizers declared Zekraiya Yasin as youngest and most promising player of the tournament. Qazi, Salihah declared best players of the year Meanwhile, J&K Rugby Association also declared Qazi S Sajad as best player of the year for representing India in Asian 5’s Championship held at Lois. In women’s category, Salihah Yusuf was adjudged best player of the year. She was presented a cheque of Rs 2700 by the chief guest.
