HC stays proceedings against J&K Minerals CAO | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 28: Justice Sunil Hali of the state high court has stayed the proceedings pending in the court of additional sessions judge anti-corruption, Jammu, whereby the court had framed corruption charges against Rajinder Kumar Kharoo, who was financial advisor/CAO of J&K Minerals Ltd (JKML). According to the charges, Kharoo, as JKML FA/CAO, had fraudulently and dishonestly manipulated the cash book and ledgers of his regional office at Jammu and misappropriated an amount of Rs 8 lakh by obtaining advances from accused Jagdev Kumar, a JKML cashier, and other officials. Being a CAO, he was duty bound to ensure that cash book and ledgers were maintained properly. The court, while framing charges under 5(1) (c) read with 5(2) of J&K prevention of corruption act and sections 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of RPC, said Kharoo had knowingly and dishonestly done so. Justice Hali, after hearing the petitioner's advocate, issued notices to commissioner/secretary (Home), SVO SSP and Jagdev Kumar, returnable within four weeks. The court ordered that in the meanwhile, proceedings before the trial court would remain stayed till February 3, 2011.
