Chib inaugurates Employment Fair | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, DEC 28:- Minister for Medical & Technical Education, Youth Services & Sports, Mr. R. S. Chib today inaugurated a three day Employment Fair at R. S. Pura. Legislators, Prof. Gharu Ram Bhagat, Ch. Shyam Lal besides Deputy Commissioner, Jammu and other officers and a large number of people were present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Chib said the objective of holding these fairs is to create awareness among rural masses about the welfare schemes and technological innovation available to them. He said the Government is keen to spread the welfare schemes so that more and more people are covered and the State is able to tide over the problem of unemployment. On Sher-i-Kashmir Employment & Welfare Policy for Youth (SKEWPY), the Minister said the programme is aimed at giving succour to unemployed youth. He said under the scheme a seed capital has been created for the youth so that they can sustain their lives. He outlined the features of SKEWPY to the people on the occasion. Asking the people to take benefit of several schemes launched by the Government from time to time, Mr. Chib said the Government has streamlined procedures of credit lending and now banks are offering loans at very competitive rates. He asked banks to simplify procedures and encourage rural youth to take up their own units. The Minister said about 600 youth of the adjoining areas have enrolled themselves on the first day of the fair and asked people to take advantage of all the literature kept there for their knowledge. Mr. Chib said the present Government intends to take the State on the path of growth and development and asked people to give their full support to it. He said R. S. Pura area would also witness a developmental turnaround for which the Government has drawn up several plans.
