| Daily wagers of various departments hold demonstration | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 28:The daily wagers of various departments from Jammu District today held a protest demonstration in front of the office of Chief Engineer, PWD (R&B).
The protest demonstration was organized by the J&K PWD(R&B) Daily Wagers Union of Jammu Province (an affiliated wing of J&K Daily Wagers Joint Action Forum) under the chairmanship of Gurnam Slathia, Provincial President of the Forum and Naresh Sharma, Provincial President, J&K PWD (R&B) Daily Wagers Union, Jammu.
The protest was held to highlight various issues especially regularization of the daily wagers in all departments who have been engaged after 1994 and who have completed their seven years of service in the departments.
The speakers highlighted various problems faced by the daily rated workers and appealed to the government for immediate redressal of their grievances which are pending fulfillment since long.
The protestors vowed to continue their struggle till their genuine demands are fulfilled. They also stated that similar types of demonstrations shall continue in various offices which are affiliated to the Joint Action Forum. The speakers also reminded Chief Minister about Memorandum submitted to him through Divisional Commissioner, Jammu on November 25 last, to Chief Engineer, PHE Jammu on December 6 and to the Director Agriculture, Jammu on October 22. In continuation to this chain, Forum presented Memorandum to Chief Engineer PW(R&B) Deptt Jammu for the same cause and requested for immediate action for regularizing daily wagers in various departments of the State.
The Forum announced the future course of action on the occasion and stated that the next programme will be held on January 10 at Sub Transmission Division-II, Panama Chowk, Jammu.
