PHE employees stage protest dharna, put forth demands

JAMMU, Dec 28:On the call of PHE Employees United Front, the ‘aggrieved’ PHE Employees in thousands staged protest Dharnas today at all the District Head Quarters in Jammu region viz Reasi, Ramban, Kishtwar, Doda, Udhampur, Rajouri, Poonch, Samba, Kathua and Jammu in support of their long pending demands.
The employees demanded providing of Rs 110 per day to all sort of PHE workers instead of meager existing wages of Rs 500, Rs 700 and Rs 900 lump sum per month.
Beside it the PHE workers demanded release of remaining half day’s ex-gratia pay, Transfers of 4th class employees be made at section level instead of Sub Division level, The Higher Scales given to the employees as per SRO-149 of 1973 & SRO-59 be made regularized.
In winter capital Jammu also the thousands of PHE Employees assembled at PHE Complex, BC Road and have shown great resentment against the State government who has failed to implement the demands which have been negotiated in the past.
While addressing the employees at protest dharna venue the senior leaders of the Front have alleged that delaying tactics are being adopted by the Ministers concerned in connection to implement the demands of the workers.
They further added that the irresponsible attitude of the Minister concerned has forced our workers to adopt the agitational path. .
Later on the procession was also taken from B C Road which passed through the main bazaars of Jammu City viz Jewel Chowk,Tawi Bridge, Bikram Chowk and District Police Line and was culminated in the premises of Divisional Commissioner’s office Jammu where a charter of demand was submitted to Divisional Commissioner Jammu.
