NSUI want speedy postal system in villages | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 29: ational Students Union of India (NSUI) today demanded speedy postal system in villages. Issuing a press statement, state general secretary Arjun Singh Pathania said that delayed posts have snatched various opportunities from village students. He added that posts which take three or four days to reach a city destination does take months to reach a distant village address. As posts are the usual communication to candidates appearing for various competitive examinations, he termed it as clear inequality of opportunity between rural and village students. He demanded that either postal system be made strong and accountable or students should be given all the opportunities to candidates from whom opportunity has been snatched by Indian posts. Pathania further demanded that all the essential official communications be sent through registered posts which certify that the said post is not to be reached 5 days prior to date of requirement or examination date or interview date. He suggested some reforms which include intimation through e-mails, messages and alternatives if intimation does not reach required address. He also suggested expansion and revival of post-offices in the villages as most of the post-offices are located away from main roads and some are not even connected by working roads. He cited one example of Badigarh post office in block Majalta which is not connected by a working road, 3 km away from Dhar road and is made to distribute posts into areas situated 25-30 km away post office unconnected by road. He also suggested adhoc post-distributors who facilitate distribution of posts on part time basis.
