Soumay, Fazal star in Jammu’s win over Kashmir

JAMMU, Dec 29: Sailing over brilliant innings played by Fazal (51) and Soumay Jain, who took three wickets, Jammu Division registered a fine 12-run win over Kashmir Division in the state level Inter-Division under-19 cricket tournament, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at GGM Science College hostel ground, here today.
Earlier, after winning the toss and decided to bat first, Jammu boys made 123 for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Fazal played superb innings of 51 runs while skipper Paras Sharma contributed 34. From Kashmir Division, Aanam-ur was most successful bowler, who took four wickets while Imran and Zahid claimed two wickets each.
Batting second, Kashmir Division lost wickets at regular intervals and managed only 111 runs for the loss of nine wickets. Inamur Haq (21), Mudassir (15), Umar (13) and Aabir (11) were the main contributors from Kashmir division team.
Soumay was the pick of the bowlers from Jammu division to claim three important wickets while Ravi, Tapan, Imran and Imtiyaz shared piece each.

Victory for Kashmir girls

Meanwhile, in girls’ category, Kashmir Division leveled the three-match series winning the third game played today. After put into bat, Kashmir girls managed paltry 78 runs with Menaz, Intsaar, Safia doing their bit to contribute to the team’s total.
Sapna bowled beautifully for Jammu team. Jammu division, in reply bundled-out for 66 runs to lose the match by 12 runs. Sunita, Abha and Shriya managed to score some runs. Almost all the Kashmir division bowlers showed some discipline to restrict their counterparts.
The matches were held in presence of the officers of the DYSS and co-opted selectors Rajesh Dhar and Mansoor Ahmed while cricket coach of State Sports Council, Randhir Singh acted as observer.
Today’s matches were officiated by Sadiq Hussain, Mukesh Sharma and Satpal while Anju Gupta, Bilal Ahmed and Madan Mohan were in-charges of the teams.
