| JPPF to start series of protests against Mattoo | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 29: Jammu Province People’s Forum (JPPF) will be holding a phase wise agitation against the appointment of Amitabh Mattoo as Vice Chancellor Central University Jammu.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the forum under the chairmanship of Pavitter Singh, a former Session Judge. The meeting expressed its dismay over the fact that central government again ignored the sentiments of people of Jammu region.
During the first phase of agitation, indefinite Dharna and demonstration will be launched in the first week of January. The date for the same will be announced in a Press Conference to be addressed by the chairmen and office bearers of the forum.
Rubbishing the viewpoint of some self styled leaders of Jammu, who have hailed the appointment of Mattoo as VC Central University and listed his achievements as VC Jammu University for six years, JPPF has stated that Mattoo does not fulfill the requisite qualifications as per the UGC guidelines.
“He does not have an experience of ten years as a Professor in a university or having served at an equivalent position. The six year tenure of Prof. Mattoo as VC Jammu University witnessed administrative as well as financial irregularities”, Singh said.
