Army rescues 8 trapped in fire at Mahore

KATRA, Dec 29: Army rescued eight members of two families, including women and children, who were last night trapped in devastating fire that engulfed their houses at Mushra in Mahore area of Reasi.
Fire broke out in the house of Abdul Rehman at Mushra at about 11.30 pm Tuesday. The flames spread to an adjoining house and engulfed it too.
Official sources said by the time the two families came to know about the fire, they had been trapped inside. Soon after the matter came to their notice, jawans of Uniform Force 15 sector rushed to the spot and rescued all the eight trapped family members and their eight milch animals unhurt, the sources added.
It took jawans more than two hours to extinguish the fire. Estimated loss was put at over Rs 50,000. The quick army response to save the eight villagers trapped in fire had been widely appreciated by the people of Mahore. Though police had registered a case in this connection, the cause behind the incident was yet to be ascertained.
