| Constable kidnapped, killed in Handwara | | Minor girl died under mysterious circumstances | |

Unidentified gunmen kidnapped a constable and later shot him dead in Check Sarwal of Handwara area of North Kashmir late last night.
Giving details, sources said that a police constable posted at Chougal police post of Handwara had gone to his home a day before, where he was kidnapped by the unidentified gunmen and later killed few meters away from his residential house.
Sources revealed that on Monday evening a group of four un-identified persons barged into the house of one Abdul Rashid Mir son of Mohd Ashraf Mir of Check Saral, Handwara and dragged him out after locking rest of the family members. Sources said adding Mir was taken few meters away from his residence which is located in dense forests.
After giving him severe thrashing, sources said they pumped volley of bullets on him and leave him half dead.
After hearing the painful cries of Rashid, the villagers come out of there houses and unlock the family members. “it took few minutes them to trace him but by that time he (Rashid) succumbed to injuries” sources said and added that the identification of gunmen was not ascertained as they were wearing masks.
Meanwhile, a minor girl died under mysterious circumstances after she reportedly fell into a gorge in the same area.
Sources disclosed that the girl who belonged to village Silo, Sopore had come to her maternal uncle’s house and was found dead at nearby gorge a few kilometers away from the village.
Police, who reached on spot recovered the body after conducting necessary formalities to her family member. “we are ascertaining the cause of death and are waiting for the medical report” a police officer said, adding that Police has registered two FIRs and have started investigation in the matter. |
