Govt committed to provide basic amenities to the weaker sections : Bhalla | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec, 29-Minister for Revenue, Raman Bhalla has said that to provide succor to poor and downtrodden, the Government has launched number of welfare schemes to upgrade the socio-economic condition of the weaker sections of the society.
This was stated by the Minister after distributing sewing machines, blankets and livestock at a function organized by Believers Church at Ekta Vihar in Gangyal, here this afternoon. Bhalla said the Believers Church believes in wholeness of love, compassion towards the poor and needy in the society adding that the organization is not only engaged in spiritual pursuits but also nation building activities like arranging free livelihood means and livestock to the poor by conducting literacy, awareness programmes in different areas of the State.
The Minister said that Government is also providing financial assistance under Indira Awas Yojna to houseless families besides loans through banks on nominal interest so that they could start their income generating ventures and repay loan by easiest installments. He said that coalition Government is committed to provide all basic amenities to the weaker sections at their doorsteps including drinking water, electricity, road connectivity, education, healthcare and surface drains in their respective basties at par with urban pockets.
Bhalla informed the gathering that Government has established a township under Basic Services to Urban Poor at Sunjwan for which Government has earmarked Rs. 19 crore adding that after completion of construction works, the urban poor would be given housing facilities. He said Government is fully aware of weaker sections’ problems and is making all out efforts to take care of the helpless and miserable lot of the society.
