Early Times Report
SURANKOTE, Dec 29: Expressing serious concern over failure of coalition headed by Omar Abdullah to connect with common masses, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today said that the regime has failed to address economic as well as political aspirations of the people.
Party further regretted that the present dispensation has also failed to carry forward agenda of peace and development which was pioneered and initiated by previous regime headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. Addressing a public meeting at Surankote, former Minister Abdul Rehman Veeri emphasized on the need of respecting democratic urges of the people to remove alienation.
He, however, regretted that this regime has failed to assess the ground situation. Party vice president Trilok Singh Bajwa observed that through oppressive measures, this regime has been trying to establish its authority which would prove counterproductive. He added that it was unfortunate that the government was refusing to learn from past mistakes.
PDP general secretary Thakur Balbir Singh regretted that present government headed by National Conference has failed to further facilitate the cross LoC trade. He reiterated commitment of the PDP to empower all regions and sub-regions of the State. “During its three year tenure PDP led regime has proved its ability by carving out a path of equitable development in the State’, he said.
Senior PDP leader and MLA Darhal, Choudhary Zulfikar in his address flayed the coalition for not fulfilling its commitment to stop atrocities and release political prisoners. District president Poonch Hamid Manhas, Dr Mumtaz Bukhari, Shahzad Khan, Abdul Aziz Mirza, Shoukat Manhas, Sheikh Mukthiyar, Qazi Abdul Latif, Riyaz Atish, Alyas Hussain Shan and others also addressed the meeting.
