Fake spice racket unearthed in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Dec 28: Jammu and Kashmir police today claimed to have unearthed a racket of fake spice manufacturers and sellers by arresting two persons here. On specific information, police arrested Mohamad Latif Makaya of Karfalli Mohalla and Shabir Ahmad of Bemina – and recovered huge quantity of fake spices from them, a police spokesman said. He said the duo were running a fake spices mill under the name 'Mehboob Spices' at Shorgalli Mohalla in Nawabazar locality of interior city and were selling the spices on high rates. "The modus operandi of the accused was to mix powdered rice and saw dust with synthetic colours and chemicals and sell the same as turmeric powder and chilli powder," the spokesman said.He said police has registered a case under relevant section of Ranbir Panel Code, 3/7 Essential Commodities Act against the arrested persons.
