Vigilance increased on LoC to check infiltration | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 29: Vigilance has been further stepped up on the Line of Control (LoC) in the state following inputs that militant groups had gathered close to the border on the Pak side to infiltrate into India. The army had stepped up patrolling along the fence and have equipped its units with high-tech devices to check any attempts by Pak-based militants to sneak in, army sources said. Militants were likely to make desperate infiltration bids before the winter snow blocked the high Himalayan mountain passes, the sources added. "They try to infiltrate every year especially just before the snowfall so that they can create problems here. But our army is extremely vigilant at the border. We are ready to tackle the situation. We have round-the-clock surveillance on the border. With the help of sophisticated gadgets that we have, we keep an eye on the LoC under any circumstances," sources asserted. Indian troops all along the LoC were on high alert and ready to deal with any such misadventures from the other side, sources said. The infiltration continues despite a ceasefire between the two armies and a three-metre-high barbed wire security fence along the 742-km long LoC. |
