Army, BSF told to respond with fury to Pak fire | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Dec 30 :- Following yet another infiltration bid from the International Border in Samba sector on Wednesday, troops and the BSF have been directed to retaliate with full force when the Pakistani troops provide fire cover to the groups of militants trying to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir. Troops guarding the LOC and the BSF deployed on the 187 kms long International Border (IB) have been told to destroy the bunkers and the posts from where the Pakistani forces target the Indian pickets and posts for carving out a safe passage for the militants to cross into Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian forces have been cautioned against making any attempt at crossing into the Pakistani territory but they should not hesitate hitting back with full fury whenever their pickets and posts were attacked by the enemy troops. Official sources said that these instructions have been given to the Indian border guards after receipt of a major plan being framed by agencies across the border for pushing sever al groups of militants into Jammu and Kashmir. Reports said that following truce between the activists of Lashkar-i-Toiba and the Talibans on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border a large number of militants belonging to Lashkar-i-Toiba were being brought on the launching pads across the IB, Poonch, Rajouri,Kupwara, Keran, Karnah, Machel and Tangdhar sectors for infiltrating into Jammu and Kashmir. The decision to push into Jammu and Kashmir large groups of militants has been taken by agencies across the border after they realized that militancy related activities in the state, especially in the Kashmir valley and the hilly regions of Poonch, Rajouri and Doda, had nose dived during the last six months. The drop in the activities of the militants is attributed to the loss of manpower as some groups of the rebels had crossed back to Pakistan, others having joined the national mainstream, yet others having been eliminated or arrested. While appreciating the efforts made by the troops and the BSF for foiling series of infiltration bids the top Army authorities have asked the forces to further upgrade the anti-infiltration measures which were needed to bury the menace of militancy
