Symposia on environment organized

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 07
Emphasizing to create awareness among people regarding the increasing environmental pollution and the dire need to control it, the students of SM Public High School appealed for preserving the green cover for a healthy and safe survival.
The students were speaking at a symposium on the topic ‘Environmental Pollution’ organized by the Department of Information Jammu, here this morning.
Deliberating upon the hazards of environmental pollution, the participants stressed for maintaining cleanliness and ecological balance. They highlighted various modes causing environmental pollution and measures which ought to be taken immediately to curb these. They said mass awareness is necessary to educate people on the issue.
The best adjudged students were awarded by the Information department. Miss Manorama Verma of 9th class bagged first prize while Miss Nighat Shafeeq and Miss Harmeet Kour both of 8th standard clinched second and third prizes respectively. Consolation prizes were also given to other participants.
On the occasion, the Cultural Unit of the department presented a mesmersing cultural programme that received immense applause.
Similarly, the department organized a symposium at Shiksha Niketan Higher Secondary School on November 4. The students presented their views on the topic.
The best adjudged students were presented awards besides consolation prizes to other participants.
The cultural Wing of the department presented an impressive cultural show on the occasion.
The Principal thanked the department for providing opportunity to the young minds to exhibit their talent. He stressed for organizing more such programmes.
