Parade ground
12/30/2010 9:10:50 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 30:Misusing of funds in every sector of the state is now a usual thing to cite as the state government is in a deep slumber and does not bother about the development of the sports field for players in the State as a whole.
Mini Stadium Parade was declared as a stadium by the state government many years before but still it has not been developed as that one and as no proper facilities to provide the players. One can himself visualize the situation of the ground which is totally
worn out. The situation of the mini stadium is not suitable for carrying out matches as the whole ground on behalf of grass is full of dirt and mud. This provides the players an unhygienic environment to play.
Whereas, the face-lifting of the mini- stadium, Parade ground was carried out by the government on the eve of Independence Day in 2009 by painting the walls of the ground but nothing has been done to improve the ground facilities. Sources revealed that funds are being proposed for the development of the stadium but due to lack of vision and corruption-centric attitude of the officials, they are misusing them just to pack their own
pockets.
It is notable that on this ground many football championships are being played and even many political parties hold their rallies on these grounds. It is still the same as it was before being called as a stadium. Even few days back, a Divisional football league was going on this ground and the players could be seen in awful condition after the
matches.
Sumit Gupta, a player said that the ground’s condition is not at all suitable for the football or other games matches as football grounds having a green lashing grass and it is absent in case of this ground. Players also stated that in the Mini Stadium Parade, there is not even a proper grass layer on the grounds due to which during they cannot play properly. Sportspersons on the condition of anonymity stated that on one side when the government is expecting better results from the sports persons of the state but on the other side is not providing us sufficient infrastructure to groom the skills of the sports persons.
