Govt to safeguard employees’ service interests: Rather | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Dec 30:Reiterating that the government, in the overall interest of public welfare, wants cordial relations with its employees, the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather today said that better understanding between the two was primarily important for holistic socio-economic transformation of the state. Speaking at the 4th State Level Conference of Jammu and Kashmir National Trade Union Front here at jam-packed General Zorawar Singh Auditorium of Jammu University, the Minister said employees who are pillars of the government should work in unison with the government to serve the people as per their urges and expectations. The conference was attended by about 2000 delegates from various parts of the state. Rather said the government was keen to meet the genuine demands of the people adding that there was no room for any confrontation in this regard. He said employees being a well educated class of society should also keep into consideration states overall financial scenario while projecting their demands, adding that they must also strike balance between their rights and duties. Rather enjoined upon the various employees unions to play their role in eradicating the menaces of corruption and redtapism, which have eaten vitals of the society. He said “I am of the view to encourage trade unionism as it keeps checks and balances on the working of government and helps to effect transparency in administration and judicious use of funds. Giving a resume of some landmark decisions taken by the government to meet demands of the employees, Rather said. The provincial president National Conference R. L. Gupta, president, Civil Secretariat (Non-Gazetted) Employees Union, Nazir Ahmad Mir, state president J&K National Trades Union, Gafar Dar, president J&K Anganwari workers and helpers union, Suman Soori and other office bearers were also present.
