| Samba plunges into darkness due to burning of "feeder" | | |

JAMMU, Dec 30: Dec 30: Due to burning of Bainglad feeder (panel) at Samba, some areas in the district were today plunged into darkness. The feeder, which had developed some fault, was repaired this afternoon and electricity restored to Samba.
Official sources said the feeder blasted at about 4.30 pm and caught fire as a result of which several Samba areas were plunged into darkness.
The fire was extinguished by a fire tender which was pressed into service soon after the incident. The repair work on the feeder was in progress when reports last came in this evening, the sources added.
Meanwhile, agitated over the unscheduled power cuts in the area, people of Smailpur today locked the PDD office in the village amidst the raising of slogans.
The locks were, however, later opened by police and electricity was restored to the area. |
