| Inefficient information department serve no purpose, merely obligatory expense to state's exchequer | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Katra, Dec 31: From the past few years, government information department which has been opened in the holy town Katra is serving hardly any purpose to its government besides totally inefficient in providing any information to those several visiting devotees. Sensing at the popularity of the most revered pligrimage Shri Mata Vaishno Devi ji, state's information department has already sanctioned about 11 posts designated as assistant information officer, exhibition assistant, cultural- technical employees, office boy for its Katra information office Katra, but on visiting at the said office by our correspondent, only one employee seemed to be present.
It is pertinent to note that active functioning of information department is much desired and in multitude ways at the base camp Katra.
Official sources added, information department serves as a vital source in disseminating news among general public greatly concern with the development works undergoing in state in general and district in particular, moreover there is a provision of library so that the educated class can get all the knowledge.
As, Katra being the most sought after pilgrimage-tourist station, where several devotees-tourist are always in search of necessary information regarding its nearest holy shrines, tourist spots and their importance, daily yatra counting, requisite hospitality and allied services available to the different shrines-picnic-tourist spots by the government-shrine board.
Surprisingly, by making it a dummy office, several devotees are being put to face a lot of inconvenience due to lack of any reliable information providing counter at the base camp Katra as a result, on coming several devotees are only left to be suffered at the hands of touts who often mislead them.
Localites youth including Sunil Sharma, Ajay Baru, Sandeep Sharma,Brijmohan Sadhotra, Babbu Pujari,Arun Sharma, Pawan Pandit exhorted upon the government for the proper functioning of Katra based information office, otherwise opening of this office since years, has become an act of formality for which the government bear only obligatory expenses meant to employees’ salaries, building-electricity-telephone rent accuring burden on state's exchequer.
They added, if the employees have been given order to serve in Katra town, it is because of rendering undue benefit to their near and dears, concerned departmental higher officials have either attached some of its employees to their favourable offices while some are enjoying at homes thereby citing lame excuses.
When talking to DDC Reasi Panduranga K pole revealed that last week only, this matter had been discussed with joint director information Jammu, who informed regarding the departmental promotion going on in the next couple of days, after wards necessary steps would be taken to make the smooth functioning of Katra information office. |
