Tarigami for united struggle to safeguard farmers interests

Jammu, Dec 31: Rich tributes were paid to veteran Kisan leader, ex-legislator and freedom fighter late Ab Kabir Wani at a function here, organized by Jammu Kashmir Kisan Tehrik to observe his 16th death anniversary.
The function was presided over by Comrade Bishan Das, veteran Kisan leader.
The speakers highlighted the contribution of the leader in bringing political awakening among the peasants of the state. His fight in organizing and mobilizing the farmers for their rights and dignified place in the society was highlighted in the day-long function. It was resolved that his struggle against divisive and sectarian forces would be carried forward to secure dignified place for peasant community.
While paying homage to the founder leader of Kisan Tehreek, state secretary, CPI(M), J&K and MLA Kulgam M.Y.Tarigami said that Ab Kabir Wani has pioneered Kisan struggle in Jammu and Kashmir, which will continue to inspire all those leaders who wish to contribute selflessly for the welfare and well being of people especially the peasant class. Calling for making farmers equal share holders in State’s progress and development, he rued that the producers continue to be at receiving end despite having prime role in the production activities.
Government should take necessary measures to ensure better remuneration for the farmer’s produce, extend them hassle free loan facilities, assured irrigation and relief from debts to the farming community”, Tarigami demanded and said government must take measures to insulate farmers and poor people from inflation, which is breaking their backbone. He said inspirational contribution of Kabir Wani will always motivate the comrades to work selflessly for the betterment of society and unity and integrity of the State. He called upon the farmers to put a brave front against retrogative and unjust policies of the government, saying without unity future of the farming community can’t be safeguarded.
Stressing on reinforcing the inspirational slogan of Kabir Wani ‘Sar Denge Surplus Nahin Denge’ the state secretary hoped that new year will invigorate the just struggle of peasants towards creating a social order based on equality and fairplay and justice to all.
