| Panel reviews Roshni Act implementation | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 31: A meeting of the Subordinate Legislation Committee (SLC) of J&K Legislative Council was held here today under the chairmanship of MLC B. R. Kundal.
Threadbare discussions were held with regard to implementation of Roshni Act, vesting of ownership to the occupants in Jammu division and disposal of cases and pendency in this regard at various levels. Secretary, Revenue Aijaz Iqbal apprised the meeting that the department has received 149782 applications for vesting of ownership to occupants in Jammu division. Out of these 113071 cases have been already disposed off and 36711 cases are pending with the department at various levels.
Committee has enjoined the officers that Roshni Act should be implemented in letter and spirit. Committee also exhorted officers of the forest and revenue departments to furnish full details about land on which ownership rights have been vested to the occupants. The details should be furnished alongwith mapping and other relevant revenue papers.
Legislators Ajay Sadhotra, Jahangir Hussain, Nizam-ud-Din Khatana, Syed Rafiq Ahmad and Rashid Qureshi participated in the meeting. Among others, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (APCCF) A. K. Singh, Settlement Commission, J&K, Sudarshan Sharma, DC Central, J. S. Manhas, Conservator of Forests Chenab Circle, Roshan Jaggi and officers of the legislative council were present in the meeting.
