| Top HM militant surrenders in Doda | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 31: Khurshid Ahmad alias Vikas, a top militant and close associate of HM divisional commander Javed Qureshi, who was arrested and put behind the bars about a fortnight ago, today surrendered before police in Doda.
He was active since 2000 and pressure had been maintained on him to surrender after Qureshi's arrest, police sources said.Sources said he today contacted police and surrendered before DIG (Doda-Ramban range) Munish Kishore Sinha along with one AK rifle, its one magazine and 30 rounds. Additional SP, Doda, Mohammad Arif Rishu was also present on the occasion.Khurshid hails from Dehdni in Doda. He mainly operated in Dehdni, Kailar and Marmat areas of Doda, and Sudh Mahadev and Basantgarh areas of Udhampur, the sources added.Sources said only five militants, including Azad Hussain code Wasim, were active in Doda district now.Efforts were being made for their surrender too, the sources added. |
