| Peerzada finalizes arrangements for Children’s Day celebration | | |

A high level meeting was held here today to finalize the arrangements for celebrations of Children’s Day commonly known as Chacha Nehru’s Day falling on 14th November 2006, the birthday of former Prime Minister of India Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru at Srinagar and Jammu on the same day. The Day would also be observed as Teachers’ Day.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Minister for Education Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed. Minister of State for Higher Education Mr. Ajaz Ahmed Khan was also present in the meeting.
The others who participated in the meeting include Principal Secretary to Government for Higher Education Mr. A. K Angurana, Secretary School Education Mr. Khazir Mohammad Wani, SSP Jammu, representatives of cultural academy and other senior officers of Education Department.
Threadbare discussion were held to deliberate all the aspects for the success of the celebration in both the provinces. It was decided that at Srinagar the function would start at 11 a.m. and Jammu at 2 p.m. on 14th November. The meeting also decided that 11 contingents of students, NCC and police will be participated in the march past which includes 4 each contingents of boys and girls, 2 contingents from NCC and one from police. The cultural items will also be presented on this occasion at both the places. The best teacher award at the district level and state level will also be given on the celebration.
For the fool proof arrangements of this function two nodal officers have been appointed for Kashmir and Jammu include Additional Secretary School Education Mr. Showkat Ahmed for Kashmir and Additional Secretary Higher Education Mr. Anup for Jammu province.
On this occasion, Peerzada directed the authorities to ensure bigger number of participation of teachers and students in both the places. He asked that all the necessary arrangements should be taken from today so that the participants should not face any inconvenience. He directed the Transport Commissioner to ensure adequate transport facilities for teachers and students on this day
Minister of State for Higher Education Mr. Ajaz Ahmed Khan directed all the concerned departments to work jointly with close coordination for the success of Grand Celebration of Chacha Nehru’s Day.
