TSP of Rs 3.34 cr proposed for Poonch | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT POONCH, Jan 01- A joint meeting of District Officers and newly nominated members of State Advisory Board for Gujjar and Bakerwal convened and presided over by District Development Commissioner, Poonch Kuldip Lal Khajuria here today. Members projected various demands for upliftment of their community and stressed to launch special development schemes in areas dominated by Gujjar population. Main thrust was laid to establish new educational institutions in Gujjar dominated areas, besides land be identified for construction of a Hostel for Gujjar Girls in Poonch. Moreover, special mobile schools be set up in Gujjar Dhoks whose staff be engaged from educated youths of the community.
Special measures be taken to enable educated youths of the community for setting up of income generating units under dairy farming, sheep raring, poultry, agriculture and horticulture based income generating units to make them economically viable.
It was further informed that about 48000 students of Gujjar Community are enrolled upto 10th class in various Government Schools of the district who are paid scholarship by the Government but during current year only 65% allocations for scholarship have been released whereas a demand for more 35% is projected to Government for early action.
An allocation of Rs. 3.34 crore has been proposed for Tribal Sub Plan for comprehensive development of the community during the current financial year for the district which is being submitted to concerned quarters for approval.
Besides, District Officers, Member of the community include Ch. Abdul Ghani, Haji Mohd Yousuf, Haji Fayaz Hussain and advocate Mohd Hussain Salim attended the meeting.
