B.Ed colleges working as money minting machines | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 1: Most of the higher education institutes in the state are working as money minting machines. As per sources, most of the privates B.Ed colleges in the state indulge in grabbing money policy from the students by forcing them to buy uniforms from the college besides other articles. The uniforms in the colleges are sold to students at very high rates as compared to market which has become an additional burden on the students . There are nearly 150 B.Ed colleges in which nearly 30,000 students study per year in the state. Most of the students of the private B.Ed colleges have to face problem due to the extra financial burden created by their colleges. To compensate with this financial problem maximum students have to do part time jobs which directly affects their study and reduces their capacity to prove their worth. One of the students of private B.Ed College on the condition of anonymity told that her college has forced her to buy the uniform at the cost of Rs 1800 where as the actual cost of that uniform in the market is nearly Rs 600 due to which she is facing severe financial problem. The said college have nearly 450 students and the profit earned in the uniform business is Rs 5,40,000 approximately which is totally illegal. As per as rules and regulations are concerned, no private and government college can force the students to buy any article from the college. But at present, maximum number of colleges are doing this offence for the sake of money instead of improving the quality of education.
