Shashi, Hardeep help Trikuta Club enter QFs

KATHUA, Jan 2: Sailing on superb performance from Shashi Sharma and Hardeep Singh Prince, Trikuta Cricket Club (TCC) today sailed into the quarterfinals of the DySP Manjit Singh Memorial Twenty20 Cricket Tournament underway at Sports Stadium, here.
In the pre-quarterfinal played today, TCC outplayed Shining Star Kathua by 29 runs. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, TCC set a target of 140 runs for the loss of six wickets, which, in reply, Shining Star could not chase and bowled out for 111 runs in 19 overs.
Hardeep Singh was top scorer with 35-ball 46 runs including five hits to the fence while Shashi Sharma made 41 (off 35 balls, 6x4) runs. Surjeet contributed unbeaten 21 runs. From Shining Star, Jasbir claimed two wickets and Manan bagged one.
Later, chasing the target, Rajinder Singh led Shining Star could not maintain the required run rate and lost wickets on regular intervals to wind up at 111 in 19 overs. Tej Raj and Gopal were main scorers with 30 and 24 runs respectively. Skipper, Rajinder added 13 runs.
Charanjeet Singh was most successful bowler from TCC with three for 18 in four overs, followed by Shashi, who claimed two wickets for 12 runs. Balbir also took two wickets and Hardeep bagged one.
For his all round performance, Shashi Sharma was declared man of the match. He was given away the cash prize of Rs 1100 and trophy by district president of Panthers Party, Ravinder Singh.
Today’s match was officiated by Mohan Lal and Ram Lubaya as umpires while Ashwani was scorer.
