| Reasi villages demand backward status | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 2: The residents of village Kundra and its adjoining areas including Bhabber Brahmana, Rasiyalan, Dera Baba, Chumbiyan, Kanjali, Mansoo, Upper and Lower Payee, Mandilan, Tanda, Shapanoo, Dansoo in district Reasi have demanded recognition of these hamlets as backward. In a public meeting held under the chairmanship of ex-Sarpanch, Bodh
Raj, the inhabitants said that some political leaders as well as some people are interfering in the matter due to which the process of granting backward status to these villages delayed last year. The Secretary J&K Commission for Backward Classes, letter No:-
BCC/2009/540 Dec 24, 2009 asked for the report of the said areas from District Administration, Reasi, but till date no action regarding the matter has been taken.The stress was also been laid down that the villages Kundra, Bhabber, Payee, Dera Baba, Tanda etc are economically and financially very weak and the School is about 27 kms from the District Head Quarters, Reasi. The people demanded the upgradation of High School Kundra to Higher Secondary level, so that it becomes easy for the students, who have to pursue higher secondary level education at Reasi presently.
