JKPSC ignoring RTI application to hide misdeeds : Kshitij Foundation | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 2: Kshitij Foundation has condemned the Jammu Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) Secretary for non-furnishing of the information regarding the Competitive examination. Addressing a press conference here today, Narotam Sharma, Convener of the foundation said that our NGO has made an application on November 6 seeking information regarding Combined Competitive Services examination, the interviews for which are being held now-a-days. But the commission has failed to give us reply/information till now The rules of RTI-act clearly provides furnishing of information to the applicant within 30 days of the filing of application but all most 60 days have gone without any reply from the PSC, he added The attitude of commission in defying the RTI act clearly indicates ulterior motive of the commission in hiding its misdeeds. We are proceeding to the court of law for redressing grievances against the non-furnishing of the information. Kshitij Foundation realizes that the government of J&K is taking no action to be aware the people of J&K about this act. State government of J&K has not been appointed the chief information commissioner till date. The appointment of Chief information commissioner is very much important for the proper working of RTI act in the state. It comes to the notice that the RTI activists feel insecure in the whole state because threat has been given by anti-social elements to RTI activist. So, foundation also demands to pass a law for providing security to RTI activist. We have also decided to meet the Chief Minister soon regarding all our above demands and complained him of the functioning of the PSC, Sharma said.
