Foundation stone of over Rs 1 cr link road laid at Chatta | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, JAN 02 - Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla has said that a massive road connectivity network has been launched across the state to connect all the peripheral areas with the nearest urban centers The Minister was addressing a large gathering at Chatta in Sunjwan after laying the foundation stone of 3.35 kilometer long Sunjwan to Chatta road to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.02 crore under PMGSY. . Bhalla said that Rs. 2.37 crore have been earmarked for construction of 4-km long road from Bathindi to Beermeni via Rati Salarian and Rs. 1.06 crore for 1-km long Sunjwan-Doongian road. He said that on the completion of these road, the long pending demand of the inhabitants of Bathindi, Sunjwan, Rati Salarian, Sarari and Chatta and its adjoining areas would be fulfilled. He said that extending road connectivity to every nook and corner if the state is flagged as priority by both state and centre governments adding that road communication was basic requirement for speedy development of a particular area. . Responding to the locals demand, the Minister asked the PMGSY authorities to prepare estimates for construction of culverts and road from Chatta to Sarrari via Sandi village and submit the same for funding. Bhalla also assured that adequate funds would be made available for beatification of famous Chatta pond which is highly revered by the local people . He said that a Panchayat Ghar would also be constructed in Chatta adding that detailed project report has been submitted to Rural Development Minister for funding and the construction work would be started after release of funds. He also asked PDD authorities to install 50 poles in uncovered areas of the Lower Sunjwan, Upper Sunjawan and Haji Basti,. He appealed the people to use power judiciously and pay power tariff regularly. He directed the revenue authorities to prepare a list of affected families and submit the same within a week’s time so that the compensation could be disbursed among drought hit families of Sunjwan and its adjoining areas. The Minister said that the Government has earmarked Rs. 32 lakh for construction of additional rooms, verandah and establishment of laboratory and library in Government High School, Bathindi. For facilitating the sport lovers of Sunjwan village, Bhalla said concerned department has submitted a proposal to Youth Services and Sports Ministry for construction of mini stadium on available 35 kanal proposed land at the Government Higher Secondary School, Sunjwan . The Minister said Rs 9 crore have been sanctioned for construction of multipurpose community halls at Chatta, Bazigar Basti, near Bahu Fort, Govindpura Kullian Shigligar, Raipur Satwari, Barzala, Chatta, Preet Nagar, Barazalla, Gangyal, Shanker Nagar near Malik Market, Rajiv Nagar, and Nai Basti near Ramlila He said on the completion the locals would be able to arrange social and religious functions on nominal fee. He said that a proposal for inclusion of left out colonies of his constituency into Municipal Corporation is under active consideration with Housing and Urban Ministry adding that after approval, the areas included Apna Vihar, Jallo Chak, Sunjwan, Bathindi, Bandhu Rakh besides remaining area of Sainik colony would be brought under Jammu Municipal Corporation.
