Land mafia in Jammu has political patronage: Mehbooba

JAMMU, Jan 2: The menace of land grabbing has grown from leaps and bounds over the last few years in Jammu city besides its peripheries and this could be gauged from the fact that even the main opposition party- Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) has raised concern over the political leaders-land grabbers' nexus in the winter capital of state.
The PDP President Mehbooba Mufti has come out with a statement that the winter capital of the state has seen an upsurge in crime graph due to the unholy nexus between land mafia and political leadership of the region. The reported remarks were published in a section of the press today.
"The political patronage to land mafia of Jammu city has led to the increase in crime related incidents for past some time now in the winter capital…. As the main opposition party we will try to highlight and expose the misdeeds of the government." PDP chief said
People of Jammu as well as Kashmir regions are disillusioned with the policies of the state government, she said
"While Jammu's crime graph is on the rise, the incidents of human rights violations in Kashmir have increased under this regime. There is growing disenchantment among the masses against the present dispensation….. People are fed up with the mis-governance of the National Conference led coalition government. We will launch an agitation against the anti-people policies of the government…. A protest demonstration in this connection would be held in Jammu district on January 4. " Mehbooba maintained
