| It is official now: Pakistan aligning USA under duress | | |
It is official now. Describing America as the "Sole Superpower" in the world today, Pakistan has said if it had not joined the US led war on terror the situation in the country would have been like that of Iraq and Afghanistan. The Pak Foreign Minister, Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri said at a Senate Foreign Affairs Committee in Islamabad on November 3 that Pakistan had decided to join the US led war on terror "in the best national interest", failing which it could have faced a fate like that of Iraq and Afghanistan. It is virtual admission on the part of Pakistan that they joined hands with USA in the war on terrorism launched by that country, fearing reprisal on the part of America if Pakistan had failed or declined to respond positively to US call for war on terrorists. Pakistan had taken action against the Islamist Fundamentalist elements, who called for Islamic Jehad is not a voluntary act on the part of Pakistan, with the realization that any sort of terrorism or seeking settlement of political or ideological conflict through violence has inherent danger in it. Thus Pakistan has officially admitted that the complete summersault and 180 degree U-turn on its part, with regard to abetting and officially supporting terrorism as a state policy, which it had been pursuing till 9/11 was as a result of fear that US will take armed action against Pakistan as it had taken against Afghanistan and Iraq, if Pakistan had not accepted American dictates in this regard. In Afghanistan, whose ruling dispensation Taliban had provided safe haven to Al Qaeda leader, Osama Bin Laden whom America alleges to be responsible for attack on twin towers in New York, through suicide ariel attacks, USA took military action and ultimately brought about change in the regime there, by overthrowing the Taliban government and installing the government of their own choice in its place. In the process a civil war like situation took place in Afghanistan, where several thousands of people were massacred and a heavy devastation took place. Similarly in the case of Iraq, where its ruling dictators Sadaam Hussain, head of the Bash party, refused to accept the dictates of USA. The latter under the excuse of Iraq having gathered weapons of mass destruction led UN sponsored attack on that country and succeeded in overthrowing the Sadaam regime and instead installing the government of its own choice there. A sort of civil war is still going on in Iraq, although Sadaam Hussain who was captured by the American forces and was later tries and now has finally been sentenced to death by the Iraqi tribunal, for his offence of killing a large number of Shiat Kurds, out of shere revenge. Both Afghanistan and Iraq have met the worst fate because of the failure of incumbt governments there to accept what US had been asking them to do. Pakistan has now admitted that it was in a situation of being between the devil and the deep sea and it had the choice either to stand up against USA as was done by Sadaam Hussain, who incurred the American wrath and ultimately met its destruction, or to join hands with America and help that country in their war against those terrorists outfits, who were thorn in the neck of USA. Pakistan joined the later course and not only spared the country from being attacked by America, but also won its favour and got huge economic assistance from that country. In this context President Parvez Musharraf's disclosure in his recently released book "In the line of fire" that after 9/11 USA had threaten Pakistan to be bombarded and pushed to the stone age if it did not join hands with it, is relevant. Since Pak Foreign Minister made the above statement while reacting to criticism from a leader of the Jamat Olima Islami against the raids on a madarsa within the country on its border with Afghanistan, in which 80 local tribals mostly teenaged students in the madarsa got killed, obviously it is admission on his part that the madarsa in question was subjected to bombing on the dictates of USA, with the objective to kill the Al Qaeda terrorists who were suspected to be hiding there. Thus it is clear that Pakistan has surrendered its independence and sovereignty before USA, under duress.
