Shashi’s 80 guides Trikuta to semis of T20 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KATHUA, January 3: Brilliant 80 runs unbeaten innings played by Shashi Kumar helped Trikuta Cricket Club (TCC) beat Gurdaspur XI by six wickets to reach semi-finals of the ongoing DySP Manjit Singh Memorial Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at Sports Stadium, here today. It took this star striker just 52 deliveries to make 80 runs with the help of 11 boundaries and one hit over the fence. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Gurdaspur XI set a target of 156 runs for the loss of eight wickets, which TCC chased in just 18.1 overs losing four wickets. Vijay was top scorer with 43-ball 53 runs studded with two sixes and four boundaries while Sarpinder (25 off 25 balls) and Rohit (22 off 12 balls, 2x6, 2x4) were other main scorers. From TCC, Hardeep Singh Prince was most successful bowler with three for 32 in four overs, followed by Shashi, who took one wicket. Later, chasing a target of near eight-run per over, TCC attained the goal in 18.1 overs with six wickets in hand. Shashi played brilliant innings of 80 runs while Ashok contributed 31-ball 36 runs. Aman clinched two wickets from Gurdaspur XI. For his match winning innings, Shashi was declared man of the match. He was given away Rs 1100 (man of the match) and Rs 500 (fifty) cash prizes by veteran cricketer, Parkash Udhay Singh Paka.
