PEEU calls on Power Minister | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Jan 03: The government is serious to resolve all genuine demands of the employees of Power Development Department and is taking various steps for strengthening the functioning of the department for improving power generation in the State. This was stated by the Minister of State for Power Shabir Ahmad Khan at a meeting with the representatives of Provincial Electric Employees Union, Jammu (PEEU) and State Daily Wagers Electric Union , here today. Secretary Power Development Department Altaf Ahmad, Power Development Commissioner, Asgar Ali , Chief Engineer, M&RE Jammu, Qasim Ali besides other senior officers were present in the meeting. During two-hour long meeting, various issues related to employees welfare were discussed. It was assured that appropriate action would be taken on all genuine demands put forth by the concerned Electric Unions. The deputationists led by its Provincial President P. C. Sharma and State President, Electric Daily Wagers Union. Tarun Gupta put forth their demands which included retrospective effect to the already regularized daily wagers in terms of SRO-64 of 1994, re-organization of PDD, amendment in service recruitment rules, implementation of SRO-59, risk allowance to employees including daily wagers working in risk prone areas, repatriation of PDD employees working in PDC, deputation allowance to all PDD employees working in PDC and release of technical grade to all technical employees . They also pleaded for regularization of daily wagers engaged after 1994, transparent transfer policy in the department, holding of departmental promotion committees meeting and implementation of welfare schemes. The Minister assured the deputationists that all their genuine demands would be got considered favourably. He issued instructions to the concerned officers for taking necessary action on each demand.
